Greg Hancock - General Manager

Greg Hancock joined the business as General Manager of The Boat House in November 2006 when we acquired the pub. Greg recently moved closer to his home village of Gresford to run The Golden Lion

Since starting his career in catering at the tender age of 15 washing dishes in a local restaurant, so he could afford the gate price to watch his beloved Burnley FC on Saturday afternoons, Greg has come a long way. He has gained great experiences at all levels in the industry with five years at The Gleneagles 5 star Hotel in Scotland now  heading up the team at the Golden Lion, we just need to find him a wig to fit his shiny head !!!!

Matthew Parker runs our kitchen. Our youngest head chef, Matt's enthusiasm for food is unprecedented, he even keeps his own chickens in his back garden!!

Marianne Halliday - Assistant Manager

Marianne aka 'Maz' has been at the Golden Lion since the age of 17 when she joined as a part time member of staff. After 5 successful years she is now very much considered a part of the furniture, as well as a crucial part of the pubs management team! With her bubbly, hardworking nature she definitely proves good things come in very small packages!!

Simon started with WPC in 2001 as part of the opening kitchen team at The Goshawk and has been at The Golden Lion since 2003. If Simon isn’t cooking you will find on a computer game staring at his TV that is bigger than the cinema!!

The latest addition to The Golden Lion crew but already a firm favourite with colleagues & customers alike. We have snared Allan away from the Wirral, where ironically working at The Boat House many moons ago ignited his passion for pubs.
